Urgent Care vs Emergency Care
Arrowhead Animal Hospital is equipped to provide urgent care and emergency care for pets. Urgent care differs from emergency care in that it involves treating non-life-threatening conditions. Urgent conditions may require timely treatment to prevent them from getting worse, but they are not as severe or potentially lethal as emergencies can be.

What Conditions Require Urgent Vet Care?
- Allergic reactions
- Tick-borne disease
- Lameness/trouble walking
- Eye-related issues such as squinting, redness, and discharge
- Diarrhea with change in behavior
- Blood in stool or urine
- Wounds and injuries
- Porcupine quills
What Conditions Require Emergency Vet Care?
- Difficulty breathing, unable to breathe
- Choking (not always easy to see-may involve pawing at the mouth and smacking lips)
- Ingestion of a known toxin or foreign body (such as a toy, bone, or other inedible object)
- Serious trauma (hit by a car, fell from a high place, etc.)
- Broken bone(s)(or possible broken bones)
- Loss of consciousness, collapse
- Straining, or unable to eliminate
- Snake bite
- Unproductive vomiting
- Bloating and hardening of the abdomen
